Yoga Teacher Enhancement Module with Elena Brower

Mark your yogi calendars for Elena Brower's "Art of Attention Teacher Enhancement Module" happening at The Standard Hotel, July 7th - 9th.

According to the Elena's website:

"Reinvigorate your teaching with a delicious, nutritious 3-day Teacher Enhancement Module.
These three days are designed to revitalize your teaching and your own personal practice. Learn subtle ways to keep yourself creative, deliver your highest work, and consistently elevate your students and yourself. Expect alignment-based Hatha teachings, a handful of meditative practices, poetry, and creativity. Three full days of contemplation, movement, seeing and listening."

The training is open to instructors who have been teaching for at least 1.5 years.  The course is 18 hrs and cost is $400. You can register here. Learn more about the intensive here.

We've had the pleasure of taking a few classes with Elena over the years and highly recommend this workshop. The timing is a little funky with it being a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday - so if you're able to clear your schedule it will be worth it for sure! Love, love, love seeing quality programming happening in our sunny city. One wish is that she would host a class open to the public while she is here - maybe it's happening and we just don't know about it?

Miami Beach Full Moon Meditation + Buddha's Birthday

It is most definitely a little too late for us to be posting responsibly this evening but we're feeling obligated considering the line-up we're facing for the next few days. 

There's a par-tay this weekend for the SUPER Full Moon Day down at 3rd & Ocean Dr. This month's moon meditation will be on Saturday led by the legendary Gaia Budhai. Facebook has the details.

The Buddha Walks Into a Bar... with Lodro Rinzler

Author Lodro Rinzler will be in Miami next week promoting his book, The Buddha Walks Into a Bar. He will have a signing at Books & Books in the Gables Wednesday night, followed by another signing/party at The Standard on Thursday night.

We thought The Standard party sounded like a pretty decent time ($30 gets you admission for two, a signed copy of the book and 2 Day Passes to the spa) and then this part of the author's bio caught our eye:

"When he left for college he received two heirlooms from his parents. From his father, a mala which he had used to recite mantras. From his mother, her father's flask. He utilized both greatly in the four years ahead."

Sold. Not only do we already love this guy, we think we might be related to him. If we could sum up our college experience in four sentences, those would be them.  More about the book:

Yoga Infused WMC - Spin Shala H20m

We will be here and so should you. This Friday night at The Standard (one of our most favorite places to be in Miami Beach) DJ Marques Wyatt and yoga instructor Courtney Just will tune you into into your musical pulse on your yoga mat. This is basically a guaranteed good time.

Is it just us or does the yoga instructor for this event look EXACTLY like Britney Spears?  

Normally we hide from Winter Music Conference. Not that we're conservative by any means, it's just that everyone is so freaking high it makes us start having flashbacks. Then we start to feel old and end up on mushrooms at some random pool party trying figure out why glow sticks are so amazing and how could we have missed out on them for so long.

H2OM: Starting 2012 with Refined Radiance

This Friday night Christy Nones (certified Anusara instructor) will lead The Standard's monthly yoga soirée, H2OM. This month's theme will be "Starting 2012 with Refined Radiance".

The event starts at 8 pm and cost is $30, which includes access to the Indoor Baths, Hamam, Aroma Steam Room, Cedar Sauna, Sound Pool, Roman Waterfall Hot Tub and Mud Lounge.
