Like always, it's been a while, Miami Yogis.
While we would normally tell you about how we've been hiding out, things are different this time. We've been watching you. Yes, you.
We have hit classes in almost all of the studios in the 305 over the past few months. Taking some "us" time...
...and quite frankly, you all have gotten so ridiculous that you parody yourselves now, thus doing our job for us and rendering us obsolete.
Feeling guilty over missing out on attending (or even just posting) about Tim Miller and Seane Corn being here over Memorial Day Weekend, we want to present you with the following event:
Who: Mandy Ingber (if you don't know who she is, Google her)
What: Author Event at Books & Books Bal Harbour
When: Friday, May 31st at Noon
Why: While we normally shy away from posting about "Celebu-Yogis" (or wanna be celebu-yogis) we are deeming Ms. Ingber worthy because it's our blog and we'll do what we want.
Plus, we really love Makoto and this gives us an excuse to go there on a Friday afternoon after the event, eat tons of sushi and drink saké until we're slurring our Slokas.
Namste, Miami!

Art Basel: YogArt Launches at the Wynwood Walls
Miami welcomes Art Basel to our sunny shores this week.
In addition to tons of packed events, grid locked traffic, zero parking and tiny, overpriced cocktails, we can look forward to YogArt launching this Thursday at the Wynwood Walls.
The event promises to "bring together the nation's best instructors and top musical acts during Art Basel".
So if you'd like to see and be seen this year during Art Basel, dear yogis, this event is for you.

Yoga Aid World Challenge: 108 Sun Salutations
Obligatory post on this weekend's upcoming Yoga Aid World Challenge in Miami Beach.
Imagine this yogis: 500+ South Florida Yogis converging on the 7th floor of the 1111 Lincoln Road parking garage.
Decked to the nines in their Lululemon leggings, sporting their Manduka mats, overpriced yoga accessories and largely embodying everything we feel is wrong with yoga today, these yogis have one thing in common:
To see and be seen.
Whoa! Where'd that come from? Awkward! Let's try this again. These yogi's have one thing in common:
To raise money for this year's Yoga Aid World Challenge.

Michael Stone: Awake in the World & Kickin' It in SoBe
According to the Kindle we are 16% of the way through Buddhist, Yogi and Psychotherapist Michael Stone's latest read, 'Awake in the World'.
According to our calculations we have t-minus 19.5 hours to finish the final 84% of the book before he begins his weekend workshop at Miami Life Center.
If a full weekend is too much of a commitment, you can enter à la carte for $40 a session - a small price to pay for a fling to flirt with fully experiencing the here and now.
Considering that it feels like this is about how far we've come in our practice, we'll prob drop in for a session or two.

Looking to the East to Solve Your Problems in the West?
Very much looking forward to this one hitting our Netflix queue.
When we first came across the trailer for Kumaré we couldn't help but laugh out loud.
It wouldn't hurt every single yogi/spiritual seeker to watch this flick (or at least the trailer!) and then take a good. hard. look. at their own teachers. Just saying.
In Kumaré: The True Story of a False Prophet, filmmaker Vikram Gandhi seeks to explore the question of human spirituality by impersonating a "wise Indian Guru" named Kumaré. We're assuming a wide range of emotion (hilarity!) ensues. See below for the movie trailer.
We remember the exact moment our idolization of yoga teachers was shattered. We were in the Kinko's on Alton Road about six years ago when a certain Jivamukti teacher came in having a nervous breakdown on her cell phone. She was screaming so loudly that the bindi flew off of her forehead. You know who you are. Freak.

Seriously, if you haven't checked out their site yet, stop reading right now, follow this link and sign-up to start receiving free dope downloads and access to an entire universe of yoga tunes.
There are very few things worse than a yogi or yoga teacher with stale tracks, so please do everyone a favor and refresh your playlists.

Jai Uttal, Daniel Paul & The Mayapuris Under One Roof
...well technically under two roofs since they're giving performances on both Saturday and Sunday.
We're super pumped to have these guys in town this weekend. We've seen some stellar performances at both Unity on the Bay and at Synergy Sobe and we cannot wait to add these acts to our hit list.
